Laura Bourdon-Pierre

Before Country Buttercups:

I have worked in childcare for the past 7 years. I have knowledge on all ages, particularly on running and providing care for 2-3 years.  I have worked in a variety of areas in childcare: Private nurseries, Primary schools, Nannying, mother's help, on a children's farm and babysitting (of which i still do in my spare time for parents of the nursery).

Before childcare, I have worked in the local bakery, in a nursing home and in a Bed and Breakfast.

My roles at Country Buttercups:

I am the Co-Owner/Manager.  I hold an NVQ level 3 in Children's learning, care and development with an advanced apprenticeship. This covers the Early Years Foundation Stage and so have great knowledge on all children aged up to 5. I am Paediatric First Aid trained, CRB checked, Makaton trained and have relevant food hygiene training.  I have attended Advanced Child Protection and been on several play workshops and lots of other courses.  I am the Child Protection Officer, Health and Safety Officer and Fire Protection Officer.

Life outside Country Buttercups:

I am part of Hastings and Rye Scout Group, where I have been a leader and enjoy attending various events such as canoeing, kayaking, climbing, orienting, fundraising events, hikes and many more activities.  I like to socialise with my friends and Fiance, going out for meals as we all do! I have recently got engaged and enjoying wedding planning for the wedding in spring 2014!

Helen Mallion

Before Country Buttercups:

Before the nursery environment, I enjoyed gaining a wide range of information on babies and for parents whilst working within a maternity unit for 2 years at Pembury Hospital as a HCA, then moved on to a primary school placement for work experience, mainly Reception class.  I have worked in child care for the past 7 years, I have been supervisor of a 0-2 baby room for over 4 years and have gained an abundance of knowledge within this environment. On occasions I have acted as nursery manager for another setting which covered ages 3 months to 5 years. Here I learned the importance of a positive learning environment and found I could combine the knowledge I had to care for children with a learning environment.

My roles at Country Buttercups:

I am the Co-Owner/Manager.  I hold an NVQ level 3 in Children's learning, care and development with an advanced apprenticeship, this covers a great depth into the Early years foundation stage and so have great knowledge on not only babies but pre-school children also, I am Makaton trained, CRB checked, a qualified SENCo, gained advanced child protection, food safety and paediatric first aid and attend many regular training courses.

Life outside Country Buttercups:

I have a very large family and so enjoy time spent with family and friends.  I like to visit local places such as Bewl Water, Hastings Old Town, Bodiam Castle and many more with my husband and young daughter of 5 years old and My new addition Arthur who is now 7 months old.  I also love to visit a tea room or two with my best friend when we get a free weekend and are looking to trial run a few local tea room walks in the area.

Emily Thompson

I bring great ideas for activities for the children and take a keen interest in the planning and observing side of childcare along with just having fun and playing with the children.  I also offer admin help when needed and generally keep the nursery ticking over well.

Life outside Country Buttercups:

I enjoy spending time with my partner and young family of two.  We like to visit local zoo's, parks and seasides.  I really enjoy heading out into the countryside on public footpath walks with my youngest of 3 year old, enjoying the one-to-one time spent with her. I love socialising with my friends and family and all the usual activities of meals out, cinema trips and shopping!

"Emily has a wonderful way with the babies and children and supports us fully in our ethos of the nursery. She is an integral part of our team, with great love and care for the children and staff.  She has been amazing to work alongside for the past 6/7 years and we have shared many experiences together."
